FALL LEAGUE DETAILS
We are excited that you’re considering joining us. In addition to the league logistics (when and where below), we wanted to share our values and distinctions so that you and your child know exactly what to expect.
WHAT: The purpose of our fall league is two-fold: 1) teach fundamental basketball to developing athletes in an atmosphere that is both challenging and encouraging; and 2) teach fundamental life skills to help young athletes prepare for and navigate some of life’s critical topics.
WHY: We believe team sports provide a terrific environment to help a young athlete develop holistically as a person, both physically and relationally. Whether or not your child continues in the sport of basketball competitively, he or she will continue in the game of life and we want to help them succeed while still learning the value of effort and teamwork.
HOW: Our high school coaches will lead weekly 2 hour clinic style practices designed to teach and drill fundamental basketball. At the midpoint of each practice, we will take a short break to cover one of life’s big topics using resources from the TrailMap for Life curriculum. Prior to opening day, players will be divided to create the most competitive environment so that each player has an opportunity to apply what he or she has learned and improve each week. Practice coaches will oversee game days with the assistance of volunteer coaches and referees and we reserve the right to make roster changes throughout the season. Games will be scheduled for one hour each using a running clock and mandatory substitution system.
FAMILY ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Your child is expected to be on time and work hard at practice
